Northwood University Sports Management Majors Present Strategic Marketing Plans to Members of Sports Commission

Dr. Dennis Bechtol’s (first row, far left) sophomore Strategic Marketing Class at Northwood University presented their class projects in the form of “An Idea Portfolio” to board and staff members of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission last week. The class was divided into five (5) teams with each being assigned a topic of interest to the Sports Commission. Topics included: Kids Fitness Festival, Membership, Extended Stay, a Glades area event and a Premier Palm Beach Sports Event
Oral presentations were presented to Sports Commission President, Don Dufresne; Vice President, Judy Spring; Executive Director, Gerry Baron and Marketing Director, Charlie Dunn who organized the six-week long project. Commission President Don Dufresne characterized the two-hours of presentations by stating: “I was impressed with the quality of work and originality of ideas from such young minds. They will be very beneficial to us in our future planning.”
The Sports Commission has an on-going Intern program with Northwood University currently utilizing three (3) students as Interns within its office. These class projects augment the Intern program and others are planned. A similar class project is also underway with students in the Sports Management Program at Florida Atlantic University.
