Part of Florida's Gold Coast, Palm Beach County is a 2,000 square mile treasure under sub-tropic skies! It's just 50 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale, 70 miles north of Miami and 150 miles south of Orlando.

From baseball to golf, equestrian to aquatic sports, organizations everywhere are discovering that Palm Beach County is fast becoming "The Best Place to Play!" Boasting a thriving economic community with over 1 million residents, an international airport facility, more than 16,000 hotel rooms, 47 miles of beaches, more than 154 public and private golf courses and over 1,500 tennis courts, Palm Beach County attracts a variety of sports activities and events annually.

This combined with an ideal climate averaging a balmy 75 degrees for year round sports and the abundance of sporting amenities in the area has made Palm Beach County one of the premier sports areas in the world.

In March of every year, Palm Beach County becomes a mecca for baseball fans everywhere as it hosts the spring training for the National League's Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. This facility has hosted a variety of major sporting events such as the NSA Girls Fastpitch World Series, the USA Junior Olympic Baseball Championships, and Perfect Game USA Baseball World Wood Bat Championships. Roger Dean Stadium is also the home for two minor league teams, our own Jupiter Hammerheads (Florida Marlins) and the Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals). This means a baseball game will be played at Roger Dean Stadium every day beginning with spring training and will continue with the Class A Florida State League games throughout the summer months, so stop by and enjoy a game.

Throughout the County, golf is a major activity for all ages. The PGA of America calls Palm Beach Gardens home. The ADT Championship (LPGA) takes place every November at the Trump International Golf Club where the top 30 female players in the world compete. , The Honda Classic takes place every March in Palm Beach Gardens. This PGA sponsored event will bring the top golfers to the "Golfing Capital of the World." Since 1996, the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships have been held at PGA National Resort and Spa. Former winners of this Championship include Tiger Woods and Palm Beach County's own, Michelle McGann.

Palm Beach County has the finest polo and equestrian facilities in the country. The Palm Beach Polo & Equestrian Club, the International Polo Club, and Royal Palm Polo have hosted world class polo matches. It's not unusual to see celebrities such as Tommy Lee Jones and royalty from around the world atop their favorite "mount" sharing chukkers of fun from January through April each year. Once the "polo" season is over, the emerald green fields are a "dream come true" for any field sport such as soccer, field hockey, football, rugby and lacrosse. Palm Beach Polo and Equestrian Club hosts the largest equestrian event in the world, The Winter Equestrian Festival. From January through March, you can experience premier equestrian events with your family.

Tennis presents numerous viewing and participation opportunities. With approximately 1,100 courts, fans can enjoy all levels of tennis. From the International Tennis Championships to the Chris Evert Celebrity Tour, the Delray Beach Tennis Center has proven to be a great place to watch your favorite celebrity or tennis great compete. The local chapter of the USTA is one of the most active around hosting numerous tournaments annually around the area.

Water sports are a year round activity in Palm Beach County. The Atlantic Ocean offers our visitors deep-sea fishing, diving, sailing and even offshore powerboat races. You can go boating, fishing, windsailing and water-skiing on the Intracoastal Waterway and on many of our lakes, especially Lake Okeechobee, the second-largest freshwater lake in the United Staes. On many occasions, The National Waterski Championships have been held at Okeeheelee Park, considered one of the top water-skiing competition sites in the United States. Scuba enthusiasts have the chance to drift effortlessly with currents along interesting reefs and wrecks through the miles of crevices and ledges that feature sunken vessels positioned by the County's Artificial Reef Program.

Rent a canoe or kayak at Okeeheelee Park or the Jupiter Outdoor Center.. Florida's Gold Coast offers you a variety of exciting water sports. Of course, cool yourself off at one of the County's two new waterparks, Calypso Bay Waterpark in Royal Palm Beach, and Coconut Cove Waterpark in Boca Raton.

Want to try golf croquet or learn how to drive a race car? Visit the new National Croquet Center, the world's largest croquet complex which recently hosted the Golf Croquet World Championships and International Festival. Moroso Motorsports Park, a multi-purpose, year-round racing facility, hosts car shows, motorcycle races and is the home of the Justin Bell GT Motorsports Experience. If in-line hockey is your sport, stop by the Palm Beach Skate Zone in Lake Worth. USA Rollersports has hosted several events, including the Inline Hockey World Championships which included teams from the USA, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Great Britain

Don't forget to visit the Palm Beach Kennel Club which offers exciting greyhound racing. If you're a BMX racing fan, stop by the track at Okeeheelee Park to see some great competitions. Of course, basketball also provides entertainment while visiting South Florida. Exciting college hoops are played at Lynn University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Palm Beach Community College and Florida Atlantic University.
