Chris Evert / Raymond James Pro Celebrity Tennis Classic Provides
Tennis and Entertainment in Palm Beach County

The Chris Evert / Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic took place at the Delray Beach Tennis Center on Saturday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th.  The Classic, now in its 18th year, has raised over $15 million dollars to fight against drug abuse and child neglect in Florida.  The event featured 2 days of celebrity tennis, a Pro-Am hosted by Chris Evert, and a Pro-Celebrity Gala.  In addition to Chris Evert, the participants included tennis players Jim Courier, Luke Jensen and Vince Spadea, actor Scott Foley, actress Candace Cameron, actress Maeve Quinlan, actor Chevy Chase, former President George H.W. Bush, actor/comedian Jon Lovitz, sports commentator Bud Collins, golfer Greg Norman, tennis player and sports commentator Mary Carrillo, and actor Jerry Van Dyke, among others.  Approximately 8,000 people attended the event over the weekend to experience a mix of exciting tennis with some comic relief and fun entertainment.

On Saturday November 3rd, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission conducted a special presentation for Chris Evert on Center Court.  Sports Commission President, Donald P. Dufresne, officially welcomed Chris Evert as an inductee to the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame for her numerous achievements on and off the court.  The Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame was created to recognize and honor outstanding achievements and contributions in the field of sports from athletes, coaches, administrators, media, and others.  Chris Evert will always be a sport icon in Palm Beach County.
