Eastpointe Country Club to Unveil
Restoration Project with Grand Re-Opening
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Eastpointe Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., will officially unveil the newly restored and renovated 18-hole Championship private golf course on November 3, 2007.
Sanford Golf Design, the world renowned golf course architect of this project from Jupiter, Fla., will be on-hand to attend the Grand Re-Opening Celebration. In addition, over 400 members are anticipated to attend the celebration, which will also feature a golf tournament and dinner.
“The entire Eastpointe management team and Board of Directors are extremely proud of the renovations to the course and the main clubhouse and it’s a great time to be part of this club,” said Dave Sheldon, who was recently named the new General Manager of Eastpointe Country Club. “The community continues to re-position itself in the Palm Beach market as an outstanding private club with world class amenities and an affordable life style.”
During the restoration project, directed by John Spiwak, Golf Course Superintendent, all the tees were stripped, resized and laser leveled using Tifway 419 Bermuda grass. The greens were stripped and resized with TifEagle Bermuda grass.
Additional yardage was added to the Par 72 layout where the Black tees now measure 7,011 yards, a 121-yard increase. A new forward tee was added measuring 5,045 yards – where Eastpointe Country Club will now feature 6 sets of tees.
The 6-month project also included 52 bunkers being completely restored to their original shape and size with drainage systems installed and G-Angle sand used.
Additional changes made to Eastpointe Country Club during the restoration include:
- Installation of drainage on two fairways
- New wooden bulk head wall installed in front of the Par-3 8th green
- New wooden bridge installed to the 18th island green
- Renovated men’s locker room
Country Club Services from Boca Raton, Fla., was the golf course construction and renovation company which was utilized for the project.
Eastpointe Country Club, which is located between Hood Road and Donald Ross Road, just west of the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 95, was founded in 1974 and designed by George and Tom Fazio. Each year, approximately 35,000 rounds are played. The unique property features several native plant materials including large Live Oak and Slash Pine trees and offers a pristine setting of lakes, rolling fairways and wildlife.
