
300 Students participate at
the
"The Best of Everything Tourism and Hospitality Conference"
The Palm Beach County Hotel and Lodging Association’s Hospitality Workforce Program hosted their Second Annual “The Best of Everything” Tourism and Hospitality Conference on Monday, September 17th at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The event was held in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council and the School District of Palm Beach County and hosted over 300 high school students and their teachers from Palm Beach Gardens High School Tourism, Hospitality & Resort Management Magnet Program, Forest Hills High School Tourism & Hospitality Career Academy and Olympic Heights High School's Tourism & Hospitality Career Academy.

After an opening welcome session, the students attend panel sessions featuring leaders in the tourism industry, including PBCSC Executive Director, Gerry Baron. The panel sessions included such topics as:
- The Open Door - Careers in the Hospitality Industry
- What makes up the Tourism Industry in Palm Beach County
- How do I get ready for my Future in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry
- I want the Job - How do I get hired?
- How do I not get fired in 30 days?
- So you think you might be interested in Sports Recreation Management?
The conference also hosted an expo area which allowed students to meet and network with Palm Beach County tourism business leaders, hoteliers, local universities and local attractions. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission attended the expo to demonstrate their support of the sports tourism industry and to offer guidance to the tourism leaders of tomorrow.
