| On Saturday, April 3, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission
held their annual Meet the Marlins event at Roger Dean Stadium
in Jupiter. It was a beautiful day for baseball as the World
Champion Florida Marlins took on the New York Mets.
Before the game, fans had a chance to mingle with some
of their favorite players, collect autographs, take pictures
and even pick up a few hitting tips. Fans were also on hand
to see the Palm Beach County Sports Institute honor the
round 2 winners of the Sports Achievement Awards. The Sports
Achievement Awards honor local elementary, middle, and high
school students who have achieved excellence on the playing
field and in the classroom.
The Sports Commission honored Nancy Olson of the Florida
Marlins Community Foundation with an award commemorating
their championship 2003 season. Nancy Olson then presented
the Sports Institute with a check from the Florida Marlins
Community Foundation to help support our events. The Marlins
and Roger Dean Stadium have been ardent supporters of the
Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the youth of Palm
Beach County
