Perfect Game Florida Classic

Date: Jul 1 to 5, 2017
The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is partnering with Perfect Game Youth Florida, a subdivision of Perfect Game USA, to create the Perfect Game Florida Classic, which will take place at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches from July 1-5, 2017. Approximately 50 teams, 900 athletes, and over 2,000 total visitors will travel to Palm Beach County to participate in the inaugural Perfect Game Florida Classic. Teams will be traveling from across Florida and the southeast region of the United States. Participating teams will compete in pool play followed by the bracket play. Each team is guaranteed 4 games. There will also be a skills competition held in conjunction with the baseball tournament. This event is expected to generate 1,000 room nights for Palm Beach County hotels.

Cal Ripken Rookie State Championship

Location: Gardens Park
Palm Beach Gardens Baseball, a division of the Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association (PBGYAA), will host the Cal Ripken Rookie State Championships at Gardens Park on Jun 28-July 2, 2017. The event will determine the state champion for the rookie division, which features players between the ages of 7 and 8. The tournament will attract 50 teams and 600 youth players across Florida. Ball Stars Youth Camp

The Cities of Rivera Beach, Belle Glade, West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens will be home to a series of youth basketball camps conducted by NBA (National Basketball Association) legends. Ball Stars Youth Camp, led by NBA All-Star and former chairman for the NBA Retired Players Association, Otis Birdsong, expanded its program into Palm Beach County two years ago. Ball Stars Youth Camp has an 9-year history with a mission provide free camps to underserved children and teens. In addition to Otis Birdsong, the camp included other former NBA stars, such as Michael Ray Richardson and Anthony Goldwire.

The South Florida PGA Junior Championship and Challenge Tours are premiere membership-based junior golf programs providing competitive and fun tournament experiences for golfers with the aspirations and skill levels to compete at the high school and collegiate levels. Both tours encompass an eleven-month season of tournament golf played on championship golf courses. The South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour will visit the Old Course at Broken Sound on June 26-27. This junior golf tournament will feature 36 holes of golf. A total of 84 boys and girls will be competing in a variety of age groups (13-15, & 16-18). The Bill Dickey Invitational Junior Golf Championship will take place in Palm Beach County for the third consecutive year. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has partnered with the Bill Dickey Scholarship Association to bring this national golf tournament to The Palm Beaches. The Bill Dickey Invitational Junior Golf Championship enables 40+ minority junior and high school players with single-digit handicaps to compete in a 36-hole medal play tournament. This year’s event will take place at IBIS Country Club. In addition to the three days of competition, this event features a Pro / Junior Golf Challenge. The event is expected to generate over 200 hotel room nights during June.

Coast to Coast Baseball Showcase

Coast to Coast Baseball prepares the nation's top high school baseball players for success at the collegiate and professional levels. The goal is to build and showcase the skills of young, aspiring athletes in an environment that allows them to experience what it's like to play at the college level. This showcase will take place at Roger Dean Stadium. A total of 16 teams comprised of approximately 20 players each will compete. Teams are formed after the athletes register for the camp and showcase. The event is expected to fill over 100 room nights.

The Swamp Classic is an annual softball tournament that is sanctioned by USSSA and is produced by the Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association. The event will take place on June 24-25 at the Lake Catherine Softball Complex, Gardens Park, PGA Park, and the Amanda J. Buckley Field. The event will attract 60 teams and create a considerable tourism impact in Palm Beach Gardens.

The Florida Half Century Softball tournament returns to Palm Beach County on June 23-25, 2017. This is a 50 or older men's softball tournament for senior athletes from the states of Florida and Georgia, and will utilize 9 softball fields over 3 venues (Seminole Palms Park in Royal Palm Beach, Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, and John Prince Park in Lake Worth). An estimated 55 teams will play two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. Florida Amateur Championship

The Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) will host its Amateur Championship at The Bear's Club and Lost Tree Club in Jupiter from June 22-25. The 100th edition of the Amateur Championship will feature 168 golfers competing in 72 holes of individuals gross stroke play. All players play 18 holes at The Bear's Club and 18 holes at Lost Tree Club before the 36-hole cut. Golfers must qualify to compete at this prestigious event. The FSGA stages fourteen (14) qualifying events that are gateways to competing at the Amateur Championship. The Florida Amateur Championship is one of the oldest and most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the country.
