The Florida Half Century (FHC) Softball Association will return to Palm Beach County on October 4-5, 2014 for a 60 & Over division tournament. This event will feature men competing in slow-pitch softball. This tournament, which will utilize 8 softball fields over 3 venues (Seminole Palms Park in Royal Palm Beach, Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, and John Prince Park in Lake Worth), will mark the first time FHC’s 60 & Over division has played in Palm Beach County in more than a decade. A total of 55 teams from across the state of Florida are expected to compete. Teams will compete in 5 skill brackets and are guaranteed to play a minimum of 4 games. Florida Half Century Over 60 Tournament

33rd Annual Mid-Amateur Championship

Date: Oct 9 to 12, 2014
Location: Loxahatchee Club
The Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) will host its 33rd Annual Mid-Amateur Championship at The Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, Florida on October 9-12, 2014. The tournament will feature an 84 player field with 36 holes of individual stroke play. There will be a hole by hole play-off to determine the last qualifier's place in the Championship immediately - All other ties for seeds will be broken randomly. The match play round of 32 will begin Friday afternoon. The round of 16 will be played on Saturday morning and the quarter-finals will begin Saturday afternoon. The semi-finals will be played on Sunday morning and Championship match will be played on Sunday afternoon. The Columbus Day Open hosted by the City of Delray Beach, held October 11-13, 2014, is one of the largest of the newly created USTA National Selection events in the United States. With over 250 participants competing in the Boys and Girls 12s, 14s, 16s and 18 and under divisions, this event will showcase the future of American tennis. The event will be held at the Delray Beach Tennis Center, Delray Swim & Tennis Club, the Boca Raton Swim & Racquet Club, Broken Sound Country Club, Boca West Country Club, and Hunters Run Country Club. Each singles draw will consist of 32 players, competing in a minimum of two times (consolation format). Each doubles draw will consist of 16 teams (single elimination). The match will be televised live on ESPN and UniMas. This game will represent the US Men’s National Team’s inaugural visit to Palm Beach County.

USA Powerlifting – Florida Collegiate Championships

USA Powerlifting will host its 11th annual Florida Powerlifting Collegiate Championships at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton this Saturday, October 18th and Sunday, October 19th. The event attracts approximately 80 male and female lifters competing for championships in bench press, deadlift, and push/pull. Highly touted collegiate powerlifting programs will participate, including the University of Florida, Florida State University, South Florida University, Florida Gulf Coast University, and Palm Beach County’s own Florida Atlantic University.
