Little Mo International Tennis Open

The Little Mo International Tennis Open will take place on the tennis courts at PGA National Resort and the BallenIsles Country Club from December 2-7, 2016. This youth tennis tournament will feature both boys and girls in 5 different age groups (12u, 11u, 10u, 9u, and 8u). The tournament will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles competitions for each age group. Approximately 350 athletes from more than 40 countries are expected to compete. A total of 25 tennis courts will be utilized (15 at PGA National & 10 at BallenIsles). International Tennis Federation (ITF) rules will apply.The Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation conducts Little Mo tournaments throughout the country. This includes 16 sectionals, 4 regionals, 1 national, and 3 international tournaments. This tournament is named after Maureen “Little Mo” Connolly, who in 1953 became the first woman to win the Grand Slam when she was only 18 years old.

Boca Raton Bowl

The Boca Raton Bowl is a college football bowl game that will feature the Mid-American Conference (MAC) facing off against an opponent from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) or Conference USA (C-USA) in alternating years. Each conference will participate four times during the six-year agreement, which began with the 2014 season. The 2016 bowl season will bring together teams from Conference USA (CUSA) and the American Athletic Conference (AAC) on Tuesday, December 20, at 7 p.m. ET. The Junior Honda Classic

The JUNIOR Honda Classic is an amateur golf tournament that features both a boys and girls division competing in a variety of age groups that ranged from 8u to 18u. Over 250 youth golfers from across the nation visited Palm Beach County during this event in 2016.The JUNIOR Honda Classic presents a 36-hole competition on the Champions Course at PGA National Resort & Spa for the high school age groups. The younger age groups compete in both a 36-hole and 18-hole event on the Fazio’s course at PGA National Resort & Spa. Golfers from more than 20 different states are expected to participate.

The 2017 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) is the world's largest and longest running equestrian competition. The 12-week event, which runs from January 11 through April 2, hosts 6,500 horses and thousands of riders from all 50 states and 33 nations. Participants compete in Hunters, Jumpers, and Equitation classifications with prize money exceeding $8 million. In addition to Olympic-caliber competition, WEF hosts the nation’s premier events for children, juniors, adults and amateurs; for riders aged from 6 to 70 years old in more than 70 unique divisions of competition. WEF is a season of intense competition with thousands of competitors and spectators in attendance. Each week is considered an individual horse show with the world’s best riders competing in any given week within 12 show rings throughout the state-of-the-art equestrian show complex.

A total of 160 riders in grades 9 through 12 will have a chance to win scholarships in hunter/jumper and dressage equestrian competition and participate in educational presentations throughout the event and the college fair. Knock & Roll Wheelchair Rugby Tournament

The South Florida Rattlers, Inc. and Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation will host the 16th Annual Knock & Roll Wheelchair Rugby tournament at the Lake Worth Therapeutic Center’s gymnasium on January 13-15, 2017. Wheelchair Rugby is the only organized full contact wheelchair sport in the world today. The United States Quad Rugby Association sanctions the event. The USQRA National Team will compete against teams from other countries, but this year will re-emphasize teams from within the United States Quad Rugby Association. This model has seen growth in other tournaments across the country. The event will host a projected 8 teams and 250 competitors.

The AGDF is offering more than $600,000 in prize money for the seven international competitions, making it one of the richest circuits in the world. The Allianz Championship, the first full-field PGA Champions Tour event of the season, will tee-off with a celebrated roster of golf legends at the Old Course at Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton for the tenth consecutive year from February 6-12, 2017. Tournament week is jam-packed with interactive “events within the event” before and during championship play with opportunities for “up close and personal” interaction with pros for golf fans of all ages.As the first in the early-season Florida swing, tournament play will include golf legends such as Tom Lehman, Bernard Langer, Corey Pavin, Nick Price, Colin Montgomerie, Mark O’Meara, Tom Kite, and Ben Crenshaw, all vying for the winner’s share of a $1.8 million purse. The total field consists of 78 Champions Tour golfers, competing in 54-hole stroke play.
