A past finalist of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission’s national Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award kicked the New Orleans Saints into its  first-ever Super Bowl appearance.

Garrett Hartley, place-kicker for the New Orleans Saints, yesterday kicked the 40-yard overtime field goal to defeat the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game.  The Saints will play the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV on February 6 at Dolphin Stadium.

Hartley is a 2006 Lou Groza Award finalist who played for the University of Oklahoma.  The national Lou Groza Award Place-Kicker Award is the product of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, and selects the nation’s top Division 1 place-kicker.
