Sports Commission Recognized at Delray Beach ITC
Newly elected officers of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission were recognized Wednesday night, February 24 during the opening coin-toss ceremony at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships.
New Sports Commission Vice President, Michael Brady, L.B. Limited – Public Relations (far left) and new Secretary/Treasurer, Guy Quattlebaum, Butzel Long – Attorneys (far right) and Gerry Baron, Executive Director of the Sports Commission were joined by players in the first match of the evening for the coin-toss ceremony.
Players include Phillip Petzchner of Germany, Alexander Peya of Austria, Igor Kunitsyn of Russia & Mischa Zverev of Germany, playing in a doubles match which was won by Petzchner and Peya.
The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is a major grant supporter of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships.
The Delray Beach International Tennis Championships is one of only fourteen ATP events in North America. This 10-day event concludes with the finals on March 21. The field consists of superstars such as the Bryan brothers, Tommy Haas, and Mardy Fish.
The Sports Commission has supported this event through its grant program since 2006. In 2009, the Sports Commission provided a grant of $11,250. The Delray Beach International Tennis Championships is expected to generate approximately 700 room nights, and over $3.5 million in economic impact to Palm Beach County.
