The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is excited to welcome back the Bennie Blades 36 Foundation to the Kids’ Fitness Festival of the Palm Beaches. The Bennie Blades 36 Foundation will be providing instructional sessions in the basic fundamentals of football, and will be a featured sports clinic at The Kids’ Fitness Festival. The booth will consist of four (4) different stations, showcasing football fundamentals. There will be a 40 yard dash, a defense station where kids will maneuver through blocks and tackle full size dummies, a tire rings station consisting of different agility drills, and a touchdown station where kids will catch the football while running and maneuvering their way to score a touchdown.

In addition to providing an NFL style workout, the Bennie Blades 36 Foundation will give kids the chance to meet and interact with former NFL players. Bennie Blades, former Detroit Lion and University of Miami alumni and brother Brian Blades, former Seattle Seahawk and University of Miami alumni will both be in attendance at the event. Other confirmed player participants include Bobby Harden, James Pruitt and Troy Drayton from the Miami Dolphins, Reggie Givens from the San Francisco 49ers and Kenny Berry from the San Diego Chargers.

NFL player and founder of the Bennie Blades 36 Foundation, Bennie Blades stated: “Bennie Blades 36 Foundation is pleased to be associated with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the Kids’ Fitness Festival again this year. This is a premier youth sports event that we are happy to get behind. We look forward to conducting our daily clinics which will teach kids the importance of health and wellness, while learning a little more about sports, all sports, not just football!”

The Kids’ Fitness Festival offers something for every child under the age of 13. Elementary and middle school children can learn the basics of over 40 sports from the area’s leading instructors, or they can hang out in the midway, play games and interact with professional athletes and mascots. Parents will also enjoy the educational expo, food, and interactive games.

In addition to the Bennie Blades 36 Foundation, the Festival will feature over 40 different prominent organizations conducting interactive sport clinics and activities, such as the Florida Panthers, Florida Atlantic University, Roger Dean Stadium, the United States Tennis Association, AMF Off Shore Geico Powerboat Race Team, and the American Youth Soccer Organization. The Kids Fitness Festival promotes both traditional sports, such as football, baseball, and basketball and non-traditional sports not commonly found in the school system, such as archery, badminton, fencing, and netball.

The festival will be held at the South Florida Fairgrounds on Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The advanced ticket price is $12 per child before June 19th, $17 per child after that, and parents are free.

About the Bennie Blades 36 Foundation
Bennie Blades’ vision for this foundation is very simple in his eyes. A world filled with children that are free from social pressure from their peers and are emotionally, physically and spiritually ready to cope with life. By giving the children education and life skills, they will be better equipped to deal with whatever comes their way. Education has always been the “key” to our success. We must not just teach the book knowledge to our kids…too often these kids have forgotten what it takes to survive in life. Their life skills have been minimized because of the social pressure of standardized testing. We must give them a vision to Believe it, Achieve it, Succeed it.
