Palm Beach County Sports Commission adds “Burt Aaronson Special Abilities Award presented by GL Homes” To Palm Beach Sports Gives, Annual Charitable Giving Program

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission and GL Homes are thrilled to announce the creation of the “Burt Aaronson Special Abilities Award presented by GL Homes”.

This special $5,000 award will be presented to a single 501c3 nonprofit organization in Palm Beach County serving the community through sports, health or fitness programs geared for youth, adults and/or seniors with special needs. The award will be distributed as part of the Palm Beach Sports Gives, charitable giving program which serves to encourage all local citizens to embark upon a healthy lifestyle.

“Anyone who knew Burt Aaronson knows how passionate he was about serving our special needs community” said County Commissioner and Tourist Development Council Board Chairperson Mary Lou Berger “ This is the perfect award to be named in his memory”.

Palm Beach County Sports Commission Executive Director George Linley says, “Palm Beach Sports Gives focuses on supporting and enhancing organizations providing sports and participation opportunities, while enhancing our sports landscape in the Palm Beaches. This program would not be possible without our partners like GL Homes, who helped bring this program to life.”

Applications for this award will be accepted until April 5, 2019 and the award recipient will be invited to a special ceremony and breakfast on May 2, 2019.

“GL Homes is proud to partner with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission to create this meaningful award in Burt Aaronson’s memory.   Burt was admired for his tireless public service and accomplishments.  We look forward to participating in an event that provides opportunities for people with special needs,” said Misha Ezratti, president of GL Homes.
