Baseball Brings Big Business to Palm Beach County this
Summer with over $2 Million in Economic Impact

WEST PALM BEACH, FL –Palm Beach County is a nucleus for numerous baseball events and the coming summer months will bring a dozen baseball tournaments to the community.  As the traditional South Florida season comes to a close, local merchants, restaurants and hotels will see a boost in business as thousands of athletes, coaches and families turn baseball tournaments into a part of their summer vacation.

More than 460 teams involving over 6,700 athletes will descend on Palm Beach County to compete in 12 major baseball tournaments on a national, regional or state level.  The players, coaches and general participants will occupy an estimated 6,100 hotel room nights and generate over $2 million of economic impact for the county.  “We are really excited with USA Baseball coming and the activity it generates for the summer.  After Spring Training, the summer tournaments are a lifeblood for the county and local community—especially during the typically slow summer months” says Dennis Witkowski, owner of JJ Muggs Stadium Grill.  Due to the outstanding baseball facilities, the tropical climate and a strong resume of prestigious baseball events, Palm Beach County has a competitive advantage when it comes to hosting baseball tournaments.

Few communities have baseball venues such as Palm Beach County. Roger Dean Stadium, located in Jupiter, is home to the Florida Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals during the Major League Baseball (MLB) spring training season.  Roger Dean Stadium is one of the premier spring training baseball complexes in Florida, consisting of a 7,000 seat stadium and 12 ancillary fields, which makes it capable of hosting any type of tournament.  Palm Beach County is also home to the Santaluces Athletic Complex, the former spring training facility for the Montreal Expos.  Located in Lantana, this complex maintains a quad of major league baseball size fields.  Additionally, the county has numerous parks and recreation facilities capable of hosting younger age groups.

This coming Memorial Day weekend will kick-off a string of tournaments running through September.  Roger Dean Stadium will be a hotbed of baseball when two tournaments comprised of over 100 teams take to the diamond with the Triple Crown Baseball Memorial Day Madness tournament and Team One Under Armour Memorial Day Classic.

The Triple Crown Baseball Memorial Day Madness tournament will have over 70 teams competing in the 8U-18U age groups.  Roger Dean Stadium will be the premier site for the 16U and 18U divisions, while the younger age groups will play at Gardens Park, PGA National Park and Lake Catherine Park.  The Memorial Day Madness tournament will begin Saturday, May 28 with first pitch at 8:30am.  The top two finishers in each division advance to the Triple Crown Baseball World Series taking place later this summer in various locations.  For a complete tournament schedule and additional information, visit

Through a history of events, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission has developed an evolving relationship with Team One Baseball to expand and bring five of its eight Under Armour National Tournaments to Palm Beach County.  The first tournament of this series is the Under Armour Memorial Day Classic on May 27-30 at Roger Dean Stadium.  This national event is a wood composite bat tournament, attracting high level 16U and 18U teams from across the country.  Following this talent is a substantial number of MLB and collegiate baseball scouts.  Games will begin at 4pm on Friday, May 27.  For a complete tournament schedule and additional information, visit

As the school year comes to a close and summer officially begins, Palm Beach County will be active this summer with little league ball players to highly talented travel teams.  America’s past time will have a presence that is not easily replicated anywhere else throughout the United States.  These baseball events promote Palm Beach County as an elite youth baseball destination and are significant contributors to the sports tourism industry.
