Director of Marketing
The Director of Marketing is a visionary leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies that elevate the visibility, engagement, and tourism impact of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. This role leads brand management, digital marketing, public relations, and event promotion efforts to position The Palm Beaches as a premier destination for sports tourism and community-based athletic events.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic and creative professional with a strong understanding of destination marketing and stakeholder collaboration. The Director will oversee and manage marketing budgets, strategically allocating resources and tracking expenditures to maximize return on investment (ROI). This role works closely with the sports development and event operations teams, as well as with external partners, event organizers, and media outlets to drive awareness and attendance through innovative campaigns and compelling storytelling.
Marketing & Communications
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual marketing plan aligned with the Sports Commission’s mission and vision.
- Oversee all digital marketing efforts including website, email campaigns, and social media.
- Manage media relations, press releases, and communication management
- Create content and advertising campaigns to promote events, partnerships, and community impact.
- Lead the advancement of the Sports Commission’s brand identity
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly.
Digital Marketing & Content Strategy
- Oversee the Sports Commission’s digital presence, including website management, email marketing, and social media strategy.
- Lead the creation of compelling multimedia content (video & photography) that highlights events and venues
- Manage digital advertising campaigns across various platforms (industry trade publications and other media)
- Utilize analytics tools to track engagement, optimize performance, and report on ROI.
Event Marketing & Promotion
- Collaborate with event rights holders, local sports organizers, and tourism partners to develop and execute marketing strategies for hosted events.
- Deploy marketing strategies to assist event organizers with attendance building
- Drive ticket sales and attendance for Palm Beach County Sports Commission events, such as the Lou Groza Award, Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame, and the Kids Fitness Festival.
Public Relations
- Serve as the primary media contact
- Develop and distribute press releases and monthly newsletters
- Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets
Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with sponsors, partners, and community organizations
- Support sponsorship activation and fulfillment through co-branded campaigns
Website Development
- Maintain and manage the company’s website content
- Responsible for ensuring that the defined company standards for design, content and web operation are consistent and according to brand standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Sports Management, Business, or a related field
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in marketing, with a focus on sports marketing, destination marketing, or event promotion
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing marketing campaigns that drive engagement and visibility
- Strong understanding of digital marketing tools, platforms, and analytics
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives, presentations, and content
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for sports and a deep appreciation for the impact of marketing in the tourism and events industry
