Palm Beach County Convention Center to Host First-Ever Basketball Tournament

Balling on the Beach, a premier youth basketball tournament, will bring over 300 middle school teams to the Palm Beach County Convention Center from June 18-21 in what will be the first basketball tournament held inside the venue. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has partnered with the event organizer, Iconic Creative Agency, to host this elite amateur showcase.

Since its inception in 2018, Balling on the Beach has developed into one of the nation’s most prestigious amateur basketball tournaments. The competition will take place at four South Florida venues with the entirety of the middle school division playing in Palm Beach County. The participating teams will bring over 2,000 athletes to Palm Beach County.

The Palm Beach County Convention Center will transform its 100,000-square-foot exhibition hall into the perfect space for basketball. 10 portable courts will be constructed in the hall to provide ample space for the tournament.

Walking distance from downtown West Palm Beach’s bustling nightlife and dining scene, the Palm Beach County Convention Center is an architectural masterpiece. The 350,000 square-foot Convention Center provides preferred and exclusive options to fit your event needs, including a 100,000 square-foot exhibition hall. It is the ideal venue for gym sports including badminton, bodybuilding, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, handball, martial arts, powerlifting, table tennis, volleyball, wrestling, and much more. The Hilton West Palm Beach hotel, connected to the facility via a covered walkway, makes event lodging a hassle-free experience, as does the convenient on-site parking garage. The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a GBAC STAR™ Facility. Notable events hosted at the Convention Center include the USA. Gymnastics Stars and Stripes Trampoline and Tumbling Championships, Spartan DEKA Trifecta Weekend, Sunshine State Games, USA Badminton National Championships, CrossFit Games Regional Championships, and NXT WWE wrestling.

The influx of out-of-county visitors is expected to provide an economic impact of over $2 million for Palm Beach County. The tournament will also create a significant rise in direct visitor spending within the county and will bolster already surging hotel occupancy rates.

“The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is excited that Iconic Creative Agency will bring its Balling on the Beach tournament to The Palm Beaches,” said George Linley, Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. “As sports tourism continues to lead Palm Beach County’s pandemic recovery efforts, the rise in hotel occupancy will be welcomed by all, especially our hospitality and business community.”

Iconic Creative Agency, which is based in Miami and has an event production division focused on experience-driven sports events on a global level, is the event organizer. The agency’s impressive event resume includes the WNBA All-Star Game, Dwyane Wade Fantasy Camp, and El Clasico Miami.
