Palm Beach County Sports Commission Hosted Back-to-School Football Fun Fest Presented by Baptist Health

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission, in partnership with Baptist Health, the Miami Dolphins, and Delray Beach Parks and Recreation, hosted the Back-to-School Football Fun Fest Presented by Baptist Health on Saturday, July 24 at Pompey Park in Delray Beach.

Children ages 5-14 practiced football and then heard an inspiring message from Miami Dolphins alumni O.J. McDuffie. “You have to get better every day you’re out here, you can’t stay the same,” McDuffie told the crowd of young athletes. “Start that base now with education because in order to get to that next level you need that foundation.”

The 250 children in attendance received a complimentary backpack, school supplies, and a t-shirt. Backpacks were provided by Fergo Apparel. After the clinic, food and beverage were provided by the Delray Beach Police Department and Delray Beach Parks and Recreation. Professional barbers were on hand to provide free back-to-school haircuts.

The Back-to-School Football Fun Fest was a new event created by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, funded by donations from corporate partners to emphasize education, physical fitness, and positive choices for youth in a safe and fun sports environment. The event took place at Delray Beach’s Pompey Park, a 17.5-acre park conveniently located minutes from downtown Delray Beach. In addition to ample field space, the park also features a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, lighted tennis and racquetball courts, a playground, conference rooms, and batting cages.
