The Palm Beach County Sports Commission and Keiser University have partnered to host two season-opening NAIA women’s volleyball events this month at Keiser University’s flagship campus in West Palm Beach. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission Volleyball Classic and the Keiser Volleyball Invitational presented by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission will take place August 12-14 and August 18-19, respectively.
The two invitational events will feature a total of 26 different teams from around the country. The teams represent 14 states including Indiana, South Carolina, Montana, Kansas, Louisiana, Alabama, California, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi, and North Dakota. Four of the teams set to compete are ranked in the 2020-2021 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll: #1 Jamestown (ND), #17 Bethel (IN), #19 Madonna (MI), #22 Keiser (FL).
Both the Classic and the Invitational are expected to create a strong economic impact for Palm Beach County. The events will attract over 500 athletes and coaches to The Palm Beaches. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission estimates $700,000 in direct visitor spending will be generated from these events.
The Palm Beach County Sports Commission and Keiser University have enjoyed a strong partnership that has seen The Palm Beaches develop into one of the leading sites for NAIA sports. Events such as the NAIA Football Championship Series, NAIA Volleyball Championship opening round, NAIA Women’s Soccer Championship opening round, the NAIA Men’s Soccer Championship, and the NAIA Women’s Golf Championship have all called Palm Beach County home.
“The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is privileged to have Keiser University as a partner,” said George Linley, Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. “Our partnership has delivered Palm Beach County numerous NAIA National Championships in addition to regional championships and national tournaments. This national volleyball invitational will bring teams from across the nation, which will create a rise in hotel occupancy and economic benefit for Palm Beach County’s hospitality industry. We could not be more thrilled to welcome these squads to The Palm Beaches.”
The host site for both events will be Keiser’s recently upgraded Massimino Court. The court is home to the Seahawks’ volleyball and basketball teams. The campus also offers several venues where the school’s teams practice and compete, including the recently upgraded Keiser Football Field, which added artificial turf and new lighting in 2019; Silvester Field, home to the Seahawks baseball team; Alumni Field, where the softball team plays and practices; Vecellio Field, home to Seahawks soccer.
