The Palm Beaches Hosted the 12th Annual USTA Summer Smash Open

Top amateur tennis players competed in The Palm Beaches this summer at the 12th annual United States Tennis Association (USTA) Summer Smash Open. The event, organized by Players International Management (PIM) and supported by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission spanned two weekends, August 19-21, 2023, and August 26-28, 2023. The events took place across multiple venues in Palm Beach County.

Over the two weekends, the USTA Summer Smash Open featured an unforgettable spectacle of talent and competition. The event was divided into two distinct segments, with boys’ divisions (12s, 14s, 16s, 18s) competing during the first weekend, followed by girls’ divisions (12s, 14s, 16s, 18s) taking center stage the second weekend. This monumental event was one of the largest USTA Level 4 tournaments in the United States as it featured young tennis stars from across the southeastern region.

The tournament was highlighted by its exceptional venues, with matches that took place at various tennis facilities throughout the county. The sites for the event included Delray Swim & Tennis Club, the Delray Beach Tennis Center, Delray Swim & Tennis Club, Boca Swim & Racquet Center, One Tennis Academy, Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center, Wellington Tennis Center, and Boca West Country Club.

The USTA Summer Smash Open created a substantial economic impact for Palm Beach County. With a participation of over 500 players hailing from the southeast United States, the event boosted the local economy and hospitality industry.
