USA Gymnastics Rhythmic Developmental Program Returns to The Palm Beaches

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission will host the return of the USA Gymnastics Rhythmic Developmental Program Championships at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on June 1-2, 2024. This event is the fourth major gymnastics meet held in The Palm Beaches over the past year, underscoring the Palm Beach County Sports Commission’s partnership with USA Gymnastics and efforts to secure premier high-level gymnastics competitions.

In addition to the Rhythmic Developmental Program Championships in 2023 and now 2024, the Palm Beach County Convention Center has been the venue for the USA Gymnastics Stars & Stripes Championships and the FIG World Cup of Trampoline & Tumbling in the past twelve months. The Stars & Stripes Championships is the national championship for the USA Gymnastics Trampoline & Tumbling Development Program, while the FIG World Cup brought international attention to The Palm Beaches as the penultimate event in the 2023 World Cup Series and the first Olympic Qualifier held in the United States for the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.

Rhythmic Gymnastics, characterized by its dance-like routines, is a sport governed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and USA Gymnastics. The USA Gymnastics Rhythmic Developmental Program exists to prepare athletes from foundational levels up to the elite stages of the sport. This upcoming championship will feature athletes aged 6 to 16 competing.

Last year’s USA Rhythmic Development Program Championships brought nearly 2,000 visitors, including nearly 450 gymnasts and coaches, and more than 1,500 spectators from 21 states. This influx generated over 2,600 room nights in area hotels and an estimated $2 million in direct visitor spending, highlighting the significant economic impact of gymnastics.

“The return of this championship is a testament to our commitment to supporting and developing premier gymnastics competitions in The Palm Beaches,” said George Linley, Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. “We are excited to welcome the FIG, USA Gymnastics, and all of these talented athletes and their supporters back to The Palm Beaches.”
