The Palm Beach County Sports Commission will host the Holiday Basketball Classic of The Palm Beaches, presented by Baptist Health on December 28-30, 2022. This premier high school basketball invitational will bring teams from across the nation together at The Benjamin School and Palm Beach Gardens Community High School for three days of elite competition. Taking place for the 6th time, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission created this event to provide a national stage for basketball, which has a rich tradition in The Palm Beaches. The Holiday Basketball Classic of The Palm Beaches brings a national presence and tourism impacts to Palm Beach County while engaging the local community through the sport of basketball.
The 2022 Holiday Basketball Classic marks the return of the event as a national showcase after hosting exclusively local teams in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This invitational competition will feature a total of 24 boys and girls high school basketball teams. Teams will travel from across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Washington D.C. to participate in Palm Beach County’s premier national invitational for high school basketball.
“Since its inception, the Holiday Basketball Classic of The Palm Beaches has created opportunities for teams and their families from across the nation to come down and compete in The Palm Beaches,” said Jeff Zipper, Committee Chair of the Holiday Basketball Classic of The Palm Beaches. “A strong tourism impact will be generated from this marquee event and it will also give local spectators the opportunity to see some of the country’s best players right here in Palm Beach County.”
The inaugural event took place in 2016. Since its debut, the Holiday Basketball Classic of The Palm Beaches has been a significant pillar in the Sports Commission’s efforts to embrace the local high school sports community while creating a tourism impact for Palm Beach County’s hospitality industry. Over the years, this event has featured some of the best high school basketball players and teams from across the nation.
